Dr Xavier Mmono
graduated from Manchester University in 1988 and trained in obstetrics and
gynaecology in York, Leeds, Sheffield and many hospitals in and around
Manchester. He was enrolled onto the GMC register of specialists in 2000
following which he worked as a consultant at the Nottingham City Hospital,
Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and Arrowe Park Hospital in the Wirral.
He also read Medical Law at the University of Wales, Cardiff developing an
interest in clinical risk management and the principles of consent and
autonomy.
He has always looked
beyond the conventional and conservative notion of health, disease and illness and
believed that our increasingly long lives should be enjoyed with a high degree
of quality. This in short refers to aspects, which enhance the quality rather
than necessarily the quantity of life. The NHS, because of the nature of its
work, is not always best placed to deliver.
He is a ‘general’
obstetrician and gynaecologist with extensive experience in managing menstrual
disorders, pelvic pain, vaginal prolapse, urinary incontinence, cervical
pathology, contraception and fertility control, sub-fertility counselling and
investigation (not treatment), miscarriage. He is experienced in gynaecological
appearance surgery (often called cosmetic or restorative surgery).
Outside work, he
enjoys cooking and loves food! He enjoys a well constituted cocktail, golf,
snowboarding, is very well traveled and lists watching Manchester United
win as one of his favourite things! Family and friends are very important to
him, with most friendships dating from childhood and extending to all corners
of the world.
He is keen at DIY and has carried out projects ranging from fitting
boilers to changing a light bulb!
He is an
experienced counsellor in areas of bereavement, pre-conception and psychosexual health. He is also an accredited colposcopist.
